Today, more than 820 million people regularly go to bed hungry, of whom about 135 million suffer from acute hunger. The number has spiked mainly due to the recession caused by the pandemic, and other reasons includes man-made conflicts and climate change. World Food Programme predicted 130 million people are at risk of suffering acute hunger by the end of 2020.
With more than a quarter of a billion people potentially at the brink of starvation, swift action needs to be taken to provide food and humanitarian relief to the most at-risk regions. More than 700 million people, or 10% of the world population, still live in extreme poverty. Surviving on less than US$1.90 a day.
The Global Report on Food Crises 2020, estimates that 135 million people in 55 countries currently face acute hunger.
We want to ensure no one sleeps on an empty stomach. Our Care For Hunger food aid program provides millions of life-saving, nutritious meals in crisis-hit countries. Together with our international partners, we have been providing more than two million meals since 2015 in countries facing emergencies or conflicts where meals were given to orphans, widows and the poor still struggling to survive amid the ongoing conflict.
OUR FOOD AID PROGRAM
IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
You can relieve the immediate hunger crises by providing meals or food aid packs. By strengthening their immune systems, you are also reducing the risks of people contracting the COVID-19 symptoms. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said “The best of you are those who feed others." (Musnad Ahmad 23408)
