Care For Hunger - Food Aid Program

Each year, Feed Our World provides millions of life-saving, nutritious meals to the poor and needy. These meals help combat hunger poverty in crisis-hit countries across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Orphans, widows and the elderly desperately need this food to survive. Your ongoing support is vital.

Help us Feed Our World for just $5 a day for a family of 5. Make a regular commitment to give just $150 a month and you can provide food every single day to some of the world’s most desperate people.

One person dies of starvation every 3.6 seconds.

You can help save lives by providing nutritious meals for just $5 a day.

We feed in over 20 crisis-hit countries worldwide:

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Central African Republic, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kashmir, Kenya, Lebanon, Mali, Mauritania, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Turkey and Yemen.

Remember – Feed Our World is Zakat and sadaqah applicable too.

870 million people in the world suffer from chronic hunger.

Alhamdulillah, together with our International partners, we also provided more than two million meals throughout the rest of the year. Over half a million of these were distributed in countries facing emergencies or conflicts, including the Syria crisis, where meals were given to orphans, widows and the poor still struggling to survive amid ongoing conflict. Syria was the largest single beneficiary country for Feed Our World 2014 with 240,000 meals provided

A food parcel is a valuable lifeline when a family loses the breadwinner of the house to an accident, disease or various causes. How else would a widow feed herself and her family when she has no money and no resources? For just £30, that’s around a third of your average weekly shopping bill, we can feed a family of five for an entire month.

Orphans in Need provides food parcels to help widows and orphans affected by poverty. Many widows in the fourteen countries we work in across throughout Asia and Africa, rely on your generosity to feed their families month by month. In 2016 your donations meant we were able to provide over 8.5 millions meals to needy widows and orphans, with your help we aim to provide even more this year.

How are the food parcels distributed?

Our Monthly Food Parcel eases the burden on impoverished widows around the world.

A $75 donation provides a food parcel for a widow and her orphaned children to feed them for an entire month.

What does the Food Parcel contain?

Each food parcel generally contains rice, flour, oil, lentils, pulses, spices, tea, sugar, vegetables, dates, soap and sanitation products. In addition, we make sure that all the produce is sourced locally with a focus on nutritional benefit and longevity. Not only will you be helping vulnerable widows and orphans, but your support will help local economies prosper.

A regular monthly donation of $75 allows us to plan for the future, so we can deliver more food parcels to those who need it throughout the whole year. You can also make a one-off donation of $900 to ensure a family has enough food for the whole year.

1. Does it really cost just $5 per day to provide meals?

Yes! We carefully source nutritious food that offers the best value for money and work closely with our teams on the ground to utilise local providers, which goes a long way towards keeping costs to a minimum.

2. Which countries do you feed in?

Feed Our World is a truly global campaign and provides nutritious meals in 30 countries:

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Central African Republic, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kashmir, Kenya, Lebanon, Mali, Mauritania, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Turkey and Yemen.

4. Who do you feed?

We feed some of the world’s poorest and most needy people. Our programme focuses on getting life-saving meals and food packs to those who are most vulnerable, particularly orphans, widows and the elderly. Our delivery teams on the ground know their communities well and can make sure that this vital aid gets to people who need it the most. All this means the food we deliver has a big impact and makes a meaningful difference to many lives.

5. Do you provide meals or food packs?

Both! We either prepare meals and host mass feedings or distribute food packs, depending on the requirements of the people we are helping and the situation on the ground.

6. When is food distributed?

Feed Our World is a year-round campaign, with extra feedings or food distributions taking place at key religious times and in response to emergency situations.

7. Do you work with other organisations?

Feed Our World is one of our flagship project and collaborate with various International NGOs to lead every aspect of its organisation and delivery. We know that by working together with other leading charities and organisations we can do even more to help the poor and needy around the world. This is why we have several partners in the UK and overseas who we co-ordinate with on Feed Our World. Uniting with leading charities is a key aim and allows us to benefit from economies of scale, provide aid in harder-to-reach areas, and help even more people

8. I can no longer afford the monthly payment. What can I do?

Please get in touch with us before cancelling your monthly payment as we could reduce the amount so that you can still help us provide life-saving aid. It also helps if you tell us first so that we can update our records.

9. Is my payment secure?

We only use secure systems with banking standard safety features to make sure that your payment and financial data cannot be compromised. All online payments are securely processed via PayPal and no financial data is retained on our servers.

10. Can I make a regular payment?

Yes, small payments made regularly can make a big difference. You can set up an affordable monthly Direct Debit and provide nutritious meals every month.
