Education for Orphans

Orphans are precious in Islam – the best way to help them is by providing them with education

As a Muslim, there is an obligation on us to protect others from any kind of harm and extend help to those who needs it. In Islam, there is a great importance on helping the underprivileged and in particular, orphans.

Islam, the religion of peace, endorses the importance of looking after these children. In addition, the topic of orphans in the Al-Quran has been mentioned over twenty times and is also signified by the Hadith and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. many times. People who bring up and nurture orphans have great value in the sight of Allah s.w.t and will gain great blessings on the Day of Judgement. The Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. appreciated those who looked after and showed compassion towards orphans.

Well, what is the best way to help orphans?

We believe that one way is by providing them with an education

For orphan children, the majority of them live in extreme poverty with little access to basic needs. Being orphaned also can play a role in whether or not a child is able to get an education.

Economic difficulty and reduced parental care and protection can translate to the loss of opportunity to go to school for orphans and vulnerable children worldwide. This group is highly vulnerable and most of these children are forced to drop out of school to support themselves, their single parents or their guardians who are usually their elder grandparents. In addition, they may also lose access to school due to the need for domestic labour, stigmatization, parental sickness or death. Hence, increasing access to education and retention at school is crucial not only for the wellbeing of the individual, but also for their future family.

Education can strengthen significant improvements in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children. On top of instilling life skills and knowledge, it can also contribute greatly to a child’s psychosocial development and provide a safe, structured environment during an immensely important period of their lives.

By opening the door to quality education, we are able to unlock the potential of these children and a better future for them. Education is the difference between poverty and plenty. By educating as many orphans in the world, we are gradually able to solve the world’s orphan crisis.

Global Ehsan Relief works to create sustainable and lasting environments where children who are most vulnerable in the community can thrive and create a better future for themselves through quality education and holistic care. The children supported through this project will be able to succeed in their education and go to support themselves and their guardians in the future.

Through our Care for Orphans and Care for Education campaigns, we support orphans to stay in school and succeed by covering their school fees and providing the children with essential school materials such as school bags, uniforms, books and other relevant materials. Additionally, the children have access to healthy, after-school meals so that they remain energized and are able to focus on their studies.

We hope that with your continuous support and generous contribution, we will be able to make a sustainable impact in enabling the children to come out of their poverty cycle and transform their lives for the better.
