Ramadhan with Global Ehsan Relief Malaysia

Malaysia is the largest country with people of multiple ethnicities, and diverse cultures thrive peacefully. The biggest Islamic festival in these countries is the Maulidur Rasul (birthday of Prophet S.A.W.), Eid-ul-Fitr (Hari Raya Puasa), and Eid-ul-Adha (Hari Raya Korban).

The first day of Ramadhan is a public holiday in the states of Johor, Melaka and Kedah. Most offices close at least an hour early during the month of Ramadhan as to reduce the number of traffic on the roads when people will rush back home for Iftar.

In Malaysia, the unique tradition in Ramadan is making and distributing “Bubur Lambuk”, a creamy porridge made of chicken or beef pieces, coconut milk, and other additional flavourful condiments. The distribution is always carried out at all mosques, to those who are fasting.

Additionally, Ramadhan Market or Bazaar Ramadhan is another main attraction. Every year, all small businesses will have a chance to sell their food and beverage at the Bazaar Ramadhan. Many unique foods and beverages are sold, showing the culture of this country in different states.

For us at Global Ehsan Relief Malaysia, we have implemented our Ehsan Ramadhan projects and activities that are carried out the entire holy month. Some of these activities include:

  • Delivering Ramadhan Food Aid Packs to beneficiaries living in selected locations
  • Distributing free Bubur Lambuk and Daily Iftar Meals
  • Having Iftar with children at Madrasahs and Orphanages
  • Carrying out our special Ramadhan Kindness Day
  • Having our special Ramadhan Monthly Distribution

Here are the impact of our efforts during Ramadhan

MDM ZALINA AND MR MUHAMMAD ZALMAN

My name is Zalina, 33. I am a housewife who takes care of my husband, Muhammad Zalman, 43, and six of our children. My husband works as a retail staff at one of the shops in our village. Unfortunately, our income is not enough to sustain the family as there is only one breadwinner.

Alhamdulillah, Global Ehsan Relief’s Ramadhan Food Aid Pack reduces our burden and struggles during Ramadhan. Thank you very much Global Ehsan Relief for this Food Aid Pack. May Allah S.W.T. bless you all.

MDM NORIDAH

My name is Noridah and I am 50 years old. I am working in a small business where I take wages from a seller who sells serunding (coconut floss). Our family’s income will only reach RM300 per month. In addition to other bills and responsibilities, I have to send money to my daughter who is still studying.

To be honest, I have never received more than RM400 in my life, and I have always made do with that amount to survive. When receiving this Food Aid Pack, I feel so blessed. Thank you very much for this help, Alhamdulillah.

In Malaysia, Ramadhan and Eid gatherings are very special to the community. May Allah S.W.T. accepts all our deeds in the month of Ramadhan and grants us blessings and happiness on the joyous day of Eid.
