Qurban Testimonials from Cambodia

“On behalf of my village, thank you for spreading joy this Qurban season.”

“Thanks to your generosity, your team on the ground worked tirelessly to deliver fresh Qurban meat to families in need in my village. Because of amazing people like you, my village has gotten fresh meat on this special day. Approximately 200 kilos have been distributed around my village.

With your kind heart, together we care for our sisters and brothers in need, and incredible things happen. This noble endeavor would not have been possible without the help of donors like you. To all of you that have helped make it possible for us to receive this fresh meat, on behalf of my village, thank you for spreading joy this Qurban. May Allah S.W.T. bless you with the best in this life and the Hereafter,” Mr Yahya expressed.

“Every day it is a struggle to feed such a big family.”

“We live modestly. My seven-member family lives in this two-room house and the kitchen is built outside. Every day it is a struggle to feed such a big family. The Eid ul-Adha celebration holds a lot of importance for me and my family. I am happy to be able to celebrate with my daughter and grandchildren. With the fresh Qurban meat that we have received, I am able to prepare for them a tasty meat dish to eat. I am also grateful because those in my village who are suffering from poverty are also able to receive this Qurban meat,” Grandma Salamah expressed, while full of smiles.

“We rarely have meat in our diet.”

“I depend on farming and sewing to earn an income. Nevertheless, the money is inadequate to furnish for all our needs. Meat makes up a considerable portion of a typical diet, as it provides our bodies with nutrients and a source of protein that are beneficial to our bodies. Unfortunately, we are lacking these nutrients because we rarely have meat in our diet.

Also, due to lack of money, we cannot have meat when we have nothing to eat in the house. It is much cheaper to buy vegetables and to sustain our income for a much longer period of time. Alhamdulillah for this fresh Qurban meat on such a joyous dah of Eid," shared Mdm Rafiah with our team.

“I felt very grateful and joyful. Thank you all for staying with us,”

“Now that I am 71 years old, I'm no longer able to work and my memory has been affected. Most of the time, I struggle to remember things. As an old man living with children who are also struggling, most of the time we depend on charitable food donations."

With the lack of a reliable income, Mr Ibrahim and his family face great difficulty when it comes to being able to eat regular, balanced meals. In particular, having the opportunity to eat meat is almost impossible.

Meat is not cooked in their home for months on end. It is impossible for them to buy meat over the last six months; the idea of eating meat is like a dream.

"Then when I heard that Global Ehsan Relief Cambodia arranged some Qurban for us, I felt very grateful and joyful. Thank you all for remembering us,” mentioned Mr Ibrahim.

“We can only afford to cook vegetables daily.”

"I cannot do anything in my old age to help my family. My children earn less than $2.50 a day, which is barely enough to put food on the table. We can only afford to cook vegetables daily. So we appreciate this fresh meat. We do not consider meat as part of our diet because we cannot afford to buy meat. Due to lack of money, it’s hard to purchase meat. I am grateful to Allah (SWT) and all donors for allowing my family to have Qurbani on this blessed occasion,” Grandma Saroh says.

“I pray to Allah (SWT) that He blesses those who donated their Qurban.”

“My wife and I are old, and we have no family near us. Our food mostly comes from the help of our neighbours. We only ever eat meat if our neighbors have it, but as they are poor too, it might only be once a month. I cannot recall a time in my life when we have been able to buy meat for ourselves. Our clothing, food, kitchen utensils, and medicine reach us due to the help of our neighbours.

We have no complaints about our situation, we are grateful to Allah S.W.T. for our lives, even though we do not live an ordinary life when compared to others.

Alhamdulillah, we receive one kilo of Qurban meat from Islamic Help Australia through the Global Ehsan Relief Cambodia team. This will be able to last us a few days, alhamdulillah. I pray to Allah S.W.T. that He blesses those who donated their Qurban and helped poor families like mine receive some meat”, says Mr Arifin.

“Today we can enjoy this delicious food because of your donations.”

"Assalamualaikum. My name is Khatijah, the mother of Rahmad Faizir. He currently goes to school at JHS 1 Tanah Jambo Aye and is in Grade 2. My husband used to work as a farmer but had passed away in 2010 due to gastric acid. Since his death, I have to be the sole breadwinner of our family. Daily, I work as a farm laborer. With the little money I have, I use it to feed my six children. I am so happy to receive this meat and basic food pack. For our family, it is rare to be able to consume meat, but today we can enjoy the delicious food because of your donations. I hope all the donors will be rewarded by Allah S.W.T. and may their sustenance increase. Many thanks to GER. "
