Elevating Mosques & Schools in Cambodia

Your donations have tremendously changed the lives of communities around the world. In particular, your contribution to our different Care for Clean Water projects have elevated the lives of people living in rural communities, far from the access to clean water.

Here are just some of the benefits that you have brought to the different communities in Cambodia, thanks to your donation in building Ablution Places!

Providing Better Opportunities for Our Children

For 14-year-old Binyamin, dirty water has affected his childhood and his education.

However, Binyamin and his family’s life has changed for the better after an ablution place was built at the mosque and school near where he lives.

“My village around the area will have enough access to clean water,” expressed Binyamin.

“Safe water and good hygiene are equally as important as good health and prosperity.”

For the villagers, a typical day for them consists of completing their morning prayers, cleaning, digging in their garden and preparing lunch and dinner. With the installation of the ablution place, they now have access to clean water and are able to complete chores like cooking and washing much more efficiently and hygienically.

They believe that having a private water supply in their courtyard has greatly impacted their standard of living. With clean water readily available, not only do the families have more time together, but more importantly everyone is healthier and their futures brighter, insya-Allah.

Similarly Soleh, a teacher in the Ethdong Pich Village, Tboung Khmum Province, the construction of the ablution place has meant a lot for the school that he teaches in.

Before this, children and teachers alike had to walk to a well near the school to get water, and carry it all the way back.

“They needed water to clean the school, and teachers and students needed it to use the bathroom, wash their hands, and also for taking wudhu,” Soleh told us.

In his village, most of them practice subsistence agriculture, raising beans and corn on small farms. Others work in sugarcane factories or raise animals for sale and consumption.

“We had to fill buckets and pots to store water and it was hard for everyone in the community. A lot of people had to walk long distances to get water,” said Soleh.

When they received the ablution place from Global Ehsan Relief, it has been a big change having water readily available at any time of the day. Soleh and his colleagues are thankful that all the students won’t have to spend hours carrying water and they will have more time for school.

“We are very happy. We have clean water for taking wudhu and for daily needs. It’s been a real change for the community and you can see that,” Soleh expressed gratefully.

Uplifting the Conditions of Our Mosques around the World

Small in stature but big in heart, Uncle Jakfar, the Imam in the mosque where we built the ablution place in the village of Toul Sombour, shared that he will do anything for his community to make sure they have water.

“Before we had water, life was hard. My children and all my villagers were suffering because of it. Every morning we would have to go and collect water from the river. We were very happy when we got water,” said Uncle Jakfar.

“When the ablution place was built, all the villagers had enough access to clean water to take Wudhu (ablution) and the villagers staying around the mosque also have enough water for daily need.”

The ablution place has also improved the health of the community, especially the children. Not only did the clean water stop children from getting sick from drinking contaminated water, but it also ensured they have more time everyday – time that was previously used up to fetch water.

For Uncle Jakfar, he expressed his sincere gratitude to all the donors and to the Global Ehsan Relief Cambodia Team for helping to change their lives

“Now, we can feel free to use the water whenever we want, for cooking, washing, taking a bath and taking wudhu,” said Uncle Jakfar.

These are some stories that have shown the impact of your donation and contribution to our Care for Clean Water projects. We urge you to continue giving your sadaqah and change the lives of communities that are in dire need of clean water. Every donation will provide clean water to the people who need it the most.

Don’t forget to share this amazing cause with your family and friends. As the Prophet s.a.w. said , “Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like one who did it” (Muslim).
